Ombre Nails

Last year, Lauren Conrad posted a link on her website on how to do your own design for candy corn nails. The link she posted was from The Beauty Department website. I followed their steps and had my own lovely candy corn nails. I have since then followed their Christmas lights nail design. (which came out great! Picture and instructions on how to do this is at the end of the blog.)  I came across a nail design called ombre from their pinterest page and it looked fun and challenging. Now that I have longer, thicker prettier nails thanks to the vitamins I have been taking, I can continue to be my own nail stylist.

My Ombre Nails:

I chose these nail polish colors:

On their page they used a make up sponge. I didn't have a makeup sponge so I used a tissue:

I then sprinkled some water on this tissue to get it a little moist:

Next, I ran 3 lines from each nail polish (Dark to light) across the damp tissue paper:

After the nail polish colors are on I quickly rolled this on to my nail. I did this for each nail, but I used new lines on the tissue each time. I am pretty impressed on how they came out!

I love this even though it took an hour or two to get it down. It got pretty messy and you need nail polish remover to clean off the excess polish. I will play around with other colors in the future.

Here are pictures from my previous nail designs: Click on: Candy Corn Nails for instructions.

Right Before Christmas, Lauren posted another link on how to do Christmas lights on your nails with thread. So I tried it and my nails came out like this:
Christmas Lights on my nails
This took me two hours! It was not so easy to get the thread to swirl on my tiny finger nails. I have the smallest hands, I swear. I loved this though, but next time I will try to find an alternative to black thread, maybe just nail polish that you can make lines with.

If you try my ombre nail style let me know on a comment, post your picture, I would love to see it!

Xoxo...

Vallz!
